Interior designers, architects and specifiers keep asking one question: how do trade account prices compare with retail prices for luxury furniture? The answer shapes project budgets, how you charge clients and which makers end up in your specification.
This guide explains what a furniture trade account is, how trade pricing differs from retail, what to look for when you specify handcrafted furniture for hotels, offices and homes in Nigeria, and how the Majeurs Trade Program works. The figures here are illustrative; your actual pricing is always confirmed on a written quotation.
What is a furniture trade account?
A trade account is an arrangement between a manufacturer and the professionals who specify furniture for other people. Instead of buying one piece at a time at the retail price, a practice or developer buys across many projects and receives preferential pricing and service in return.
At Majeurs, the Trade Program is open to:
- Architects
- Interior designers
- Property developers
- Hospitality designers and operators
- Procurement teams
- Project managers
There is no minimum spend to join. You need your company details and a copy of your business licence or registration. For a step-by-step look at joining, read Opening a Trade Account with Majeurs.

Trade vs retail: what actually changes
The headline difference is the discount, but for most specifiers the service around it matters just as much.
| Retail customer | Trade member | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Published retail price | Up to 20% off, tiered by annual spend |
| Who you deal with | Our sales team, order by order | One dedicated contact across your projects |
| Lead times | Standard production schedule | Priority over first-time retail enquiries |
| Customisation | Colour and material options | Made to your drawings: dimensions, materials, finishes and detailing |
| Samples | Showroom visit | Priority sampling, prototypes and 3D-ready models |
| Site support | Door-to-door delivery | On-site measurement and installation support |
| Aftercare | Written warranty | Written warranty, plus optional maintenance packages |
Why trade pricing exists
Retail prices cover the cost of serving one customer at a time: showroom time, individual quotations and one-off production. When a practice specifies repeatedly, the manufacturer can plan production, order materials in larger batches and work from clear drawings. A trade discount shares some of those savings with the people who make that possible.
What designers do with the difference
Practices handle trade pricing in different ways. Some pass the full discount to the client and charge a design fee; others charge a procurement fee or a margin on the furniture they supply. Whichever model you use, agree it with your client in writing at the start, so the specification is judged on quality and fit rather than on hidden mark-ups.

How the Majeurs trade tiers work
Your tier is set by your cumulative annual spend with Majeurs, so your discount grows as you place more projects with us. Every tier includes a dedicated contact and full access to the Trade Program.
| Tier | Annual spend | Trade discount | Also included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | From ₦10M | 5% | Priority sampling, faster quotations, access to newer finishes |
| Gold | From ₦25M | 12–15% | Dedicated designer liaison, priority production slots, custom moodboard support |
| Platinum | From ₦50M | 15–20% | Co-created signature products, annual showroom credit, premium sample box, VIP prototyping |
An illustrative example
Say a design studio places ₦30 million of furniture with Majeurs across three residential projects in a year. That puts it in the Gold tier, with a trade discount of 12–15%. At 12%, a ₦4 million living-room package within those projects would cost ₦480,000 less than retail. This is only an example: the discount on each order is confirmed on your quotation.
Three series for different budgets
Majeurs makes furniture in three series, all to the same standard in our Lagos workshop. The guide prices below come from our collections for interior designers and vary with size, materials and finish.
- Essential Series for short-lets, student housing and mid-range homes: about ₦120,000–₦350,000 per piece (small furniture) or ₦350,000–₦700,000 per room set. MDF, laminate or textured board, standard joinery and durable fabrics.
- Signature Series for stylish homes, corporate apartments, boutique hotels and show houses: about ₦250,000–₦850,000 per piece or ₦1.2M–₦5.3M per room set. Veneer finishes, bouclé and velvet upholstery and soft-close hardware.
- Bespoke Series for penthouses, luxury hotels and private clients: from about ₦650,000 to ₦2.5M+ per piece, or ₦1.2M–₦6M+ per room set. Solid wood, marble, high-gloss lacquer and custom metalwork.

Specifying handcrafted furniture for hotels, offices and residences
Samples and approvals
Ask for physical samples of every fabric, leather, timber and finish before your client signs off, and approve a prototype for any piece you are ordering in volume. Majeurs offers fast prototyping and sample approval, plus 3D-ready models for your design software.
Finishes and detailing
Specify the details that make a piece yours, such as metal inlays, upholstery stitching, veneer matching and exact dimensions. Put them in both the drawing and the quotation, so nothing is lost between specification and production.
Fire safety and durability
Hotels, offices and other public spaces often need upholstery and finishes that meet a particular fire-safety standard and stand up to heavy daily use. State the standard your project must meet in the specification, and the materials will be specified to it. For hospitality briefs, read our guide to contract furniture for boutique hotels.
Warranty and maintenance
Trade orders carry a 1-year structural warranty on custom furniture, 6 months on upholstery stitching and foam, 1 year on hinges and sliders and 3 months on surface wear. It excludes misuse, pets, spills and unauthorised modifications. Optional maintenance packages for show homes and short-let apartments cover refinishing and replacement parts.
Why local manufacturing helps specifiers in Nigeria
- No import duties or port clearance on furniture made in Lagos for Nigerian projects, and no waiting on international shipping schedules.
- Naira budgeting. Our trade tiers and series guide prices are set in naira, so your budget does not start from a foreign price list.
- Custom sizing to the building, with on-site measurement and installation support.
- A showroom you can visit with your client in Lekki to see finished pieces and material samples.
- Local aftercare, with repairs and replacement components available after handover.
If you source furniture across the region, our specifier’s guide to FF&E sourcing from Africa covers what to ask any maker.
